Mortal Kombat 11 tournament in In3DC

Yesterday I went to a Mortal Kombat 11 tournament hosted by Capitol Underground Gaming League. The venue was at Inclusion Innovation Incubator (In3dc) in Washington DC. It was a 4 minute walk from my house to Howard University. Before I talk about my experience at the event. I will give you a backstory on In3dc and Capitol Underground Gaming League. In3 is a open-workplace similar to WeWork. Where you can host event like video game Esports tournaments and seminars. In3dc have conference rooms and private offices. You will have to sign up for a membership. In3 offers alot of mentorship programs and a pleasant workspace. Visit the website for more detail on In3DC. Capitol Underground Gaming League is a small gaming organization from the DMV. They have been in the competitive gaming since the 90s. Capitol Underground give back to the community as well.

There latest movement is Drawback Project and Annual Blanket Drive. See about page for other projects. Capitol Underground host tournament and promote Twitch Streamers. You have to sign up for a membership and get Pro package. Capital Underground partnered with Battlefly, Gameborn Clothing and Lalay Design. We had a blast and got a hands on experience with Mortal Kombat 11. The gameplay is alot better than Mortal Kombat XL.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z Season 2 World Tour Extravaganza

Here comes a second season

Dragon Ball Fighter Z season 2 was just announced at World Tour last week. It was Top 8 regionals with SonicFox, Kazunoko, Kindedv and Feniritti. These players gave it their all and pull off impossible comebacks. Dragon Ball Fighter Z World Tour was amazing event for 3 day weekend. Now it makes me want to get better. I only saw it yesterday and was heart-pumping. There were only two American players and all Japanese. We get see them in action and take the glory. Special guest appeared in this World Tour. Christopher Sabat and Sean Schemmel were apart of this event. Sabat and Schemmel did voice acting for Dragon Ball Z going 20 years. Christopher mention Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 behind the scenes dvd. I remember that went I got the special edition. That was nostalgia growing up in the early 200s.

The producer of Dragon Ball Fighter Z Tomoko Hiroki appeared in this event We get a sneak peek at new Dragon Ball Z action role-playing game. Hiroki announced season 2 trailer and a new world tour tournament next year. Dragon Ball still grow strong with the fans and gamers. Shenron trophy look amazing and each top 8 got medals. I have to give a shout out to Tasty Steve. He is the best commentator in Esports history. Dragon Ball Fighter Z is a competitive anime fighting game that everyone should play. I can’t stress this enough, if you have not played this. Recommend you get on that game for real. I am happy Toei is sponsored this event. There were some controversy about DBFZ cancelling tournaments. You can’t stop the fandom that’s Fighter Z. Enough rambling let’s talk about season 2.

Mortal Kombat 11 Gameplay and Features for Tournament Players

What is Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay?

Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay is more refined and technical than X. Tournament players like Sonic Fox and many more will embrace them. There was a Mortal Kombat 11 live stream this week. Showcasing some characters like Baraka, Scarlet, Sub-Zero, Geras and Scorpion. Ed Boon and NeatherRealm Studios pulling out all the stop. MK11 live stream was not all about announcing characters and features. Tournament players got in on the action. Commentators give an explanation on the game. MK11 is far different than Mortal Kombat X. There is no meter building or run button (there is no need for it). X-ray is renamed with “Fatal Blow”. Fatal blow indicates went player’s health is 25%. On the right and left hand corner, there are offense/defense bar. Offense operates like an Overwatch skill move with cooldown. Defense is the same as offense bar.

Offense/defense bar is triggered by ex attacks, environment interaction and combo break. Also defense roll in the air and many more. Fatalities are more gruesome than ever before. MK11 graphics are well-polished and in-depth HD. Character designs is more realistic and life-like than past game. Mortal Kombat 11 may have more features in the coming development. Variations can be customize and still a factor in MK11. In one video, there is tower mode like previous game. Players can use items to gain an edge in battle. I think it’s a possibility for Tag-Team mechanic coming in Mortal Kombat 11. Mortal Kombat (2011 video game) had 2vs2 and it was fun. We will have to wait and see for more news.

Red Bull Conquest 2018 – Drink and Win Fighting Game Tournament Round-Up

What is Red Bull Conquest?

Red Bull Conquest 2018 is a esports event sponsor by a company wit the same name. The event is a three-day event with three fighting games Guilty Gear Xrd, Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V Arcade Edition. Red Bull is a energy drink filled with Vitamin B, extra sugar and Taurine. If you want more info on Red Bull energy drink visit the website. In Conquest 2018, players can register to complete or spectate in the crowd. If you want to compete, players must enter a pool to be in the top 8. Spectators can watch and check out booths on the floor. This is the first time I been into a real esports event in Washington DC. The venue was at Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights.

It’s been a honor to go and check it out for myself. Red Bull Conquest has been growing strong in USA. They’ve been in major cities New York. LA, Boston, Seattle and many more. Tickets was very cheap and crowd size was small. I will get to improvement towards the end. Red Bull Conquest 2018 is partnered with Hori, 7-Eleven, Honda and SteelSeries. You can get some Red Bull Conquest gear on the website. There is some notable player such as The Cool Kid, Mr. K, Malinpie, Punk and Tokido. Every player give it their all and matches was fast. Day 1 and 2 was about top 8 with three games. Final day is the Capcom Pro Tour with Street Fighter V.

Why Esports are not big as Mainstream Sports Nowadays?

What is Esports?

Well we all heard of NFL, NHL and MLB. What is there a sport where gamers who win big and being a part of a team. Esports which stand for Electronic Sports, put the top players around the world to face each other in competitive gaming. Esports export different genres of video games such as MOBA , FPS, fighting game, and real-time strategy. In 1970s through 1980s, there was a competition of Space Invaders on Atari and Spacewar at Stanford University.

There was organization called Twin Calaxies that helps promote video games and publicize through publications. That’s when America has its first video game group Called U.S. National Video Game Team, they are involved in running Video Game Masters Tournament for Guinness World Records. In 1980s Esports was in TV shows such as That’s Incredible! And Starcade, which the goals is to beat the person’s high score to win. In the 1990s, there were internet connection and the first online pc game was Netrek. The first online sports game” stated by Wired Magazine. It opens up other gaming tournament such as 1990 Nintendo World Champions which held in Universal Studios Hollywood, California and Professional Gamers League which as the game Counter-Strike, Warcraft and Quake.
