Competitive Multiplayer Online FPS Shooter
Competitive multiplayer online fps shooter is a huge stepping stone in gaming industry and culture. Recently, I play a game called “Splitgate Arena Warefare” and it’s a indie first person shooter developed by 1047 games. Well this game is in my top 5 but I will talk about it later. Anyways, back in the early 2000s I was introduce to competitive shooter like Halo and Quake. I don’t know Doom is not competitive shooter video game but single player. Competitive shooter has a esports presence as well like Overwatch League. Along with CSGO and Valorant as well having tournaments. You can check them out on YouTube or Twitch. You see Twitch streamers play competitive shooter as well along with YouTubers. They upload clips and highlights from their live streams. Afterwards post them on social media sites like Tik Tok, Twitter and Instagram.
In this blogpost I will be talking about my top 5 favorite competitive shooter of all time. I have mention some in the intro of this blog but we liberate more in the countdown. Some shooters went stream them don’t give me alot of viewers but I am there to have fun. Small streamer tip #1 don’t worry about your view count because you will be drain and unmotivated. Try to be entertaining and talk about your life or different parts of the game. I know you don’t want to talk about your personal life but don’t expect viewers to start a conversation. If there is no viewers watching practice and keep talking. That being said, lets start the countdown shall we.
Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment’s most popular shooter out there. I haven’t play World of Warcraft nor Diablo and Starcraft. Due to me playing shooter games I came across Overwatch in 2017 (maybe 2016) and enjoy the ride. Overwatch had 6 vs 6 but sequel change to 5 vs 5 PVP. The game has types like tank, offense, support and more. I remember maining DVA, Ashe and Lucio in that game. But Blizzard has a ongoing lawsuit due to sexual allegations in the workplace. I don’t support Overwatch anymore nor Blizzard/Activision. But I had fond memories of going to Washington Justice Homecoming in DC hosted by Overwatch League. If you want to buy Overwatch it’s on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
4. Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress is the first team based FPS I ever played. TF2 is Valve most popular shooter next to Counter Strike. I don’t know people still play this game but it’s under the rader. My first stream experience of Team Fortress was good but has some trolls disrupting my stream. I was force to stop due to my pc can’t handle the game. Sometimes community is very toxic but don’t let it get to me. Heavy and Solider was my favorite class of all time. Sometimes I use medic if no one pick him. Team Fortress inspired alot of team-based shooter like Paladins and Overwatch. TF2 is available on Stream and it’s free to play. Make sure to check your specs in order to run the game.
3. Paladins Champion of the Realm
Paladins Champion of the Realm is Hirez Studios team based first person shooter. The game is the same as Overwatch but feels like a beta. Hirez Studios did stated that they borrow from Team Fortress 2 but I still see some Overwatch elements in it. In Paladins, they use trading cards, perks and ride horse unlike Overwatch. Along with more character than Blizzard’s Overwatch. The characters I enjoy was Ying, Tyra, IO and Gronk. Paladins is still updating and alive with Gen Lock crossover event. I am trying to get back at the game but felt empty. Of course buying characters is expensive with in-game currency, it still worth playing. Paladins Champions of the Realm is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
2. Apex Legends
Even if Apex Legends is a battle royale game but still is a first person shooter game. Lets talk about Apex Legends, well lets just say that’s more complex than Fortnite. I did a comparison blogpost about it, feel free to check it out. This game is developed by Respawn Entertainment which brought you TitanFall. You are a squad of 3 and try to become the Apex Champion. You can get loot and gear based on tiers to survive in battle. Apex Legends does have problem like making you solo without a squad. But I still have fun with the game despite that. I like using Loba, Bangalore and one person I will name. The game is very heretic and sweaty due to pro players. Apex Legends is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
1. Splitgate Arena Warefare
Splitgate Arena Warfare is a indie game that developed by 1047 Games. I first caught wind of this went a streamer mention it. Now in 2021, Splitgate Arena Warefare resurface on my Tik Tok page. One Tik Toker mention in the comment or video that its free to play. Once I heard that I had to check it out. Lord and behold, Splitgate is one of the game I have enjoyed. The game has Portal 2 and Halo mechanics in this IP. Beginners will feel right at home if you’re a Halo player. I grew up with playing Halo I felt right at home. Splitgate is still in a beta stage but hope to improve during the finished version. There is alot of game modes to play and loot boxes to open. Spligate Arena Warfare is available now on PC, Xbox and Playstation 4 but Nintendo Switch (coming soon).
Those are my top 5 competitive multiplayer online fps shooter that I have enjoyed. There might more in the near future and beyond. Call of Duty Warzone is still popular but Battlefield 2042 might be better due being 60 players. I can’t wait to play it and might do a separated post about Battlefield. If you play first person shooter games beware of hackers and cheaters. Report them if you must but I think it happen for pc gamers but not consoles. I might do another post on hacker and cheater in shooter games. Well let me wrap things up with this post. First person shooter is the top genre along with fighting games. I would say other genres are at the bottom but alot of players like shooters.
