Top 5 SNES Games of My Childhood in the 1990s Decade
Why SNES is my childhood
I always love playing on my SNES when I was little and got the SNES9x emulator to relive them again. Here is my top 5 games I played on the SNES when I was a child.
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time SNES
One of the best TMNT games that hit SNES. Konami did a great job on this game recapturing 1987 turtles cartoon. This game is a beat-em’ up and you play as four turtles Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael. In the arcade there are four players but SNES version is two, you can slam foot soldiers in the ground and at the screen. You will face TMNT villains such as Baxter Stockman, Shredder, Kang, Rocksteady and Bebop. You also have versus and time-trial mode as extra replay value. Also there is a remake called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled but it doesn’t live it up the SNES. I love Pizza Power song in the arcade version and Shredder steals Statue of Liberty. If you a Turtles fan play this game.
4. Zombies Ate My Neighbors SNES
Another Konami classic filled with monster from horror movies. This game is a run and gun shooter with a weird twist because you are up against zombies, vampires, evil dolls, UFOS and other monsters. You play as to character Zeke and Julie who saves their neighbors from Dr. Tongue and his monsters. There are 48 levels (thank god for a password system) such as malls, pyramids, castles, school and many more. There is also powerups and weapons like Uzi water gun, popsicles, bazookas and many more. You have a chance to play this game give it a go.
3. Battle Clash
Battle Clash required a SNES Super Scope to play this game and its light gun shooter. You are inside a Mech called ST Falcon in a battle game where you destroy Standing Tanks. The protagonist Mike Anderson need your help to defeat Anubis and avenge your father defeat. If you don’t know how to play Mike will guide you on firing on enemies weak spots and charge your energy shots. This is one of the first game I played went you have to use an SNES accessory and I highly enjoy it.
2. Mega Man X SNES
To be honest I never grew up with the NES Mega man but I am glad I played to one. This is not the classic Mega Man is one is from the future, there is no Roll, Rush or Dr. Wily in this game. Dr. Light makes appears on giving armor upgrades throughout the series. You play as Mega Man X who is up against a new threat “Reploids” lead by Sigma who wants human extinction. Mega Man X has the same mechanic as the NES one such as charge-shots, dash, acquired enemies’ powers but in this installment is armor upgrades which I stated before. You fight against 8 Maverick in order to confront Sigma and comes with a password system. The game also have cutscenes I love the end of the intro stage went Zero saves you. Fun face you can do Ryu’s signature move Hadoken wen acquired a secret capsule. If you love the X series give this one a good and a must-play for SNES.
1. Killer Instinct SNES
I got to say this is one of the best fighting games in SNES. I think this was Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat competition. KI does have Danger Move just like Fatalities but the most unique feature is the double energy, automatic combo system and “COMBO BREAKER!” I also forgot about “UTRA COMBO”. Every time I hear that it’s music to my ears, speaking of that Rare release Killer Cuts which is good soundtrack.
A megacorporation named Ultratech host a fighting tournament called Killer Instinct to see who the victor is. You got vast variety of characters such as Jago (the Ryu of the game), Orchid (female hero of the game), Fulgore (Ultratech pride and enjoy), Sabrewulf (named after Rare’s 1984 game) and others.
